TODAY'S GAME

The Calgary Hitmen open a three-game weekend series with the Oil Kings tonight on the road in Edmonton. It's the first meeting with their provincial rivals in almost 15 months with their last clash on December 30, 2019, a 5-3 Hitmen win at Scotiabank Saddledome. Calgary is riding a two-game winning streak following Sunday's 7-4 victory in Lethbridge. The fourth line was instrumental in the victory combining for three goals and four assists. Centre Adam Kydd led the way with a pair of markers while Zac Funk tallied a goal and an assist while Tristan Zandee chipped in three helpers. Tied 1-1 after the opening frame, the Hitmen built an early 5-1 third period advantage before a Hurricanes rally pulled the home side to within a goal. Any thoughts of a comeback were erased when Riley Stotts and Josh Prokop both counted empty net markers for Calgary. Cael Zimmerman and Connor Gabruch notched the other Hitmen goals. Calgary outshot Lethbridge 39-36. Brayden Peters made 32 saves to pick up the victory.
